BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in Baltimore, Greg Kihn’s love affair with rock began with a move to San Francisco in ‘74. He recorded his first album with The Greg Kihn Band two years later, built a strong cult following through relentless touring in the 70s, and then hit it really big in the 80s with hits like “The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write ‘Em Like That)” and “Jeopardy.” In 1996, Kihn filled in as a host on a radio station in San Jose, CA. He was a natural, immediately developed a fan base, and was offered his own show on the air. With a brain like a rock music encyclopedia, endless tour stories, and personal relationships with dozens of recording artists, Greg offered listeners a totally unique rock radio experience. Now, he is happy to share that experience with the South Valley. Still part of the rock scene, Kihn and his band, featuring his son Ry on lead guitar, play for his rock and radio fans. Kihn is also a published author of five novels. His recently released, “Carved in Rock,” features stories by musicians such as Ray Manzarek (The Doors), Pete Townshend (The Who) and Joan Jett, co-written, collected, and edited by Greg Kihn.
