Time to Salute Our Veterans!

I am very proud to say that my Son-in-Law serves our Country in the United States Air Force!  This picture is about a year and a half old, so my cutie pie Grand Daughter is about 2 now.   There are a lot of benefits to the Military; education, medical and the chance to live in places you may not otherwise get to see just to name a few.  But there are a lot of sacrifices that our Veterans and their families make in order to serve our Country also.  Some are huge and others are small, things that you don't even think of.  These men and women to a certain degree give up some of their freedoms of lifestyle so we can be free.

They can be sent to war or deployed for a long time and not see their children be born, not see family and friends, they can live in conditions that are not easy to bear, the can be stationed in a place they would never on their own choose to live.  This sounds trivially in the big picture of all the ugly in the world right now, but just as another example of things little and big they give up; my daughters family dog who the baby loves can't live with them where they are stationed.  I miss my grand baby all the time and will be able to be a part of her live in a limited way because they are stationed  for 4 years someplace that isn't within driving distance.

One of the most touching experiences that I have had is at an event I attended with my daughter, son-in-law and grand daughter.  It was at the end of the dinner they paid a salute to men and women who had lost their lives serving.  There were candles in glass candle holders on the table for decoration and if a person was serving and had lost a comrade they were asked to stand up and hold the candle.  I remember it was dark and looking around at all these men and women who so unselfishly had totally given up so many freedoms in their life style so I could be free, standing up and remembering their lost friends.

So if you know of a Veteran I encourage you to go to this link on our website and nominate that person.  We want to salute as many Veterans as we can this year!
